Barguests

Fanged, clawed, and with pointed fangs and blood red eyes, the barguest enjoys frightening naughty children; a well behaved one is less at risk. They are most common in the north of England, where they pass along the streets at night scaring people awake with their horrible shrieks.

Barguest - A kind of Bogie.  It has horns, dangerous teeth and claws, and fiery eyes.  It can take many forms, but usually is a shaggy black dog.  Upon the death of a prominent figure, it rounds up all the dogs in the community and leads them on a procession through the streets, howling.
