Gruagachs
The females of this species of Highland Scots fairy have long fair
hair and travel from village to village by water, helping to tend
cattle. Because of their mode of transport, the gruagach tends to
arrive at the farm door drenched, asking to dry herself by the fire.
If she is admitted, she will be lucky around the house and serve the
family well. The males help with farm work, and wear jerkins of
bright red and green leather. Rather like Brownies, they will
happily serve their masters for nothing more than a cup of milk.
